Ongoing legal representation is a monthly-fee legal service: an attorney who knows your company’s contracts, people and operations, and therefore does not start from scratch when a question or dispute arises – but works to make sure there is no dispute in the first place. The monthly fee covers contract matters, employment law, debt recovery, company matters, and GDPR and compliance.
Dr. Andirkó Law Firm is headed by dr. Andirkó Balázs István LL.M., attorney-at-law, compliance and real estate law specialist, member of the Debrecen Bar Association. We meet clients in person in Debrecen and Hajdúböszörmény, and are available nationwide online by video call.
An important contract is about to be signed, and there is no one to discuss the details with. An employment relationship needs to be terminated, and you don’t know how big the risk is. A customer or client hasn’t paid for months. In our experience, most businesses in this situation choose between two options – but in the long run, neither serves their interests well.
You download a template, ask your accountant, search online, use artificial intelligence. This false sense of security works until the documents have to stand up in a legal dispute or an inspection. We offer a monthly-fee, indefinite-term arrangement: there is no lock-in period, and we always invoice based on the time actually used.
We invoice monthly in arrears, based on the time actually used. No lock-in period: under the Hungarian Act on legal practice you may terminate the engagement at any time with immediate effect. We may terminate with fifteen days' notice – so that you are not left without an attorney in your ongoing matters.
The amount of the monthly fee depends on the package you choose – we agree the exact fees at the free consultation.
In the first months of our cooperation we pay particular attention to getting to know each other properly: your company getting to know our work, and us getting to know how your company operates. This does not mean you cannot terminate during this period – only that in these weeks we stay in even closer contact than usual, so that the cooperation gets off to a really good start.
We guarantee that during this time we give your business’s matters the same attention. We believe that a quarter does not yet mean a serious commitment, yet it is enough time for you to experience the benefits that continuous legal back-up brings to your company.
Of course, you can decide at any time to continue our cooperation under a different arrangement, or that your company does not need a monthly-fee legal service right now – even then we part on good terms, and you can turn to us with any legal matters that arise in the future.

It is at least as important that our clients know exactly how they can track the time used, what happens when the allowance runs out, and on what terms the contract can be terminated. We don’t hide these terms in the small print – we spell them out here as well:
An external attorney first has to get to know the situation in every matter – and you pay for that time. With an ongoing engagement we know your company and get straight to the point.
The cost of a badly worded termination or a missing contractual clause is orders of magnitude higher than what a prior review would have cost.
The monthly fee is a single, predictable item in your accounts. You don't have to weigh up with every question whether “it's worth calling the attorney” – in our experience, that kind of hesitation is the most expensive decision in the long run.
We do not take on cases outside our practice areas just to have one more instruction – without proper knowledge of that field of law that would be highly irresponsible. In return, in the cases we do take on we give the best of our knowledge.
For the monthly fee you don’t get access to a library of document templates or contract samples, but real legal work: we prepare every document and every piece of advice tailored to your business’s specific situation, contracts and goals, fully aware of our responsibility.
Time is money for everyone, so it is a fair expectation that you receive feedback or a solution from us within a reasonable time for the matter in question. It is in everyone’s interest that, when a deadline is approaching, nobody’s work causes it to be missed.
The very essence of ongoing legal representation is that you can turn to us with your current matters at any time – even just for a quick piece of advice or a phone call – without us limiting how often, when or in what form you use this option. Because we continuously know your company’s background, we don’t start from scratch with every enquiry.

Our experience is that this scaled range of hours covers the differing needs of most micro, small and medium-sized businesses, so everyone can find an option that suits them in terms of time and cost. Of course, if your company’s needs are different, please ask for a bespoke quote.
To determine together in which areas and in what volume your company needs legal help, we have to understand how your business currently operates. Before the contract is signed we therefore hold a kick-off meeting to discuss your questions. We then recommend the package that suits your company best, or prepare a bespoke quote – and it really is only a recommendation; the choice of package is of course yours.
Besides electronic or in-person signature, the contract can also be concluded online. In that case we send the documents in advance; you print them and sign them during a recorded Skype call. You then send the signed documents to us by post, we sign them at our end and post your copy back. This may seem cumbersome at first, but we have to follow the Bar Association’s rules. (If you have read this far, you have already had a tip from us – this is one lawful and secure way of contracting with someone you are not meeting in person when you do not have a company electronic signature.)
That is of course a matter of agreement, but we do not insist that the monthly cycle begin on the first – the engagement can start on any day of the month, in which case the cycle turns on the same day of the following month.
This is where we can offer the most favourable pricing. We apply the one-month discount automatically when invoicing, so there is nothing further for you to do – we invoice in advance for 11 months instead of 12. (Any hours used beyond the time included in the package are still invoiced monthly in arrears at the package rate.)
The purpose of ongoing legal representation is precisely to handle the legal questions arising in your business continuously. We do not think one month is likely to be enough to get your company’s processes working properly in every respect. If you feel this is not the right offer for your company, you are of course welcome to come to us on an individual basis.
For indefinite-term contracts the service starts on the date set in the contract and the monthly fee is invoiced in arrears. For fixed-term contracts payment is made in advance in one sum; the service then starts on the day after the payment is credited and runs to the same day of the following calendar year.
Under the Hungarian Act on legal practice you are entitled to terminate the contract either with notice or with immediate effect, as you choose. If you terminate with immediate effect, we prepare a pro-rata settlement for the part-month and any additional hours used, and then issue the invoice. A fixed-term contract can also be terminated with immediate effect, but in that case, given the fixed term, no refund is made.
We use second-based time-tracking software in which every task is individually tagged, so you can transparently follow how much time we spent on each. We send the time report at the end of every month, and you can ask about your remaining hours at any time – on request we send the current report no later than the working day after we receive your query.
Yes, you can switch packages, up or down, at any time from the next monthly turnover date. If we see that the actual work is consistently above or below the allowance, we will tell you ourselves – it is not in our interest for you to pay for something you don’t use.
Yes, we accept engagements from all over Hungary. Most matters can be handled online: we hold consultations via Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or FaceTime, and a large proportion of documents requiring attorney countersignature can also be signed remotely. Where personal presence is required, we can meet you in Debrecen or Hajdúböszörmény.
Legal expenses insurance is reactive: it steps in once a legal dispute already exists, and typically covers the litigation costs. It does not draft contracts, does not review your general terms and conditions, and does not warn you in advance if something is risky.
Ongoing legal representation is proactive: its aim is to keep a legal dispute from getting that far. The two do not exclude but complement each other.
That is a matter of agreement – typically the managing director and an operations manager or HR specialist are the contact persons. We set out the contact persons in the contract, so it is clear whose requests count against the time allowance.
